Strasser: Dickey and McMahon do not represent me

Posted

We chose Fountain Hills because it was like our Illinois hometown. We left a safe and thriving Illinois town with a mayor and aldermen who were caring, positive and worked together.

Unlike our Illinois hometown, our Mayor Dickey is negative and vengeful. Dickey and McMahon have pompous attitudes and think they’re above all others. This attitude begets hostility!

I’m appalled by the letters submitted to this newspaper written by the mayor’s Democratic Club cronies. Skillicorn is degraded weekly. Enough is enough! The way Dickey and her crew imposed sanctions for ethics violations by Skillicorn was a total disgrace. What town official would publicly berate a fellow town official for over an hour? Dickey, where is your professionalism?

I was also appalled by Councilmember McMahon’s statement to Town Clerk Mendenhall upon her resignation. McMahon said, “I can’t help but think your decision is, in part, due to the way you have been treated by (councilmembers) Toth, Friedel and Skillicorn.” This appeared a few weeks ago in this very newspaper. How dare McMahon make a statement that degrading.

Mayor Dickey has not been my mayor! Her people write about Dickey’s accomplishments like she walks on water. Remember that the council members have much to do with these same accomplishments, perhaps more. Dickey loves to take credit for everything! However, she takes no responsibility for the failure of our street system. The streets are decaying, but we sure do have a great downtown turn-about. What a waste of street improvement dollars.

Why would I vote for Dickey or McMahon? Both of them never represented my rights or interests. I voted for Kalivianakis last time, but never again. Therefore, I whole-heartedly endorse Gerry Friedel for mayor, Mathew Corrigan and Rick Watts for council members. I know that these people will represent my rights and yours too.
