Democrat Amish Shah will participate in a one-on-one discussion regarding his run for the 1st Congressional District at 6 p.m. Oct. 8.

The discussion is part of the Clean Elections Commission's series of talks and debates with candidates from around the state.

Shah is running against Rep. David Schweikert in one of the contested districts around the state. Cook Political Report rates CD1 as one of the toss-up districts currently held by a Republican. Schweikert declined the invitation to participate in a debate.

The district represents Paradise Valley, Scottsdale, Fountain Hills and portions of Phoenix.
