The Town of Fountain Hills Streets Department and its contracted road construction company, M.R. Tanner Construction, have begun work on the third phase of street paving projects for the current fiscal year.
Work began the week on Feb. 20, for repaving on Jacklin and Firebrick drives with Jacklin to be done first. This phase is set for completion in March.
The first phase completed in December 2023 was a rebuild or repair of streets in the industrial area of Kiwanis Drive from Saguaro to El Lago boulevards, Enterprise and Colony drives. The second phase included the removal and replacement of pavement on neighborhood streets on Ibsen and Sherwood drives, Sterling Way, and Ashbrook Drive between Fountain Hills Boulevard and Cameo Drive.
During these road projects, residents and those using these streets must obey all construction notifications and instructions from on-site safety personnel. No parking is permitted on the streets during working hours once construction begins.
The town’s construction working hours are 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Contractors typically work between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. during the week. For more information about the Phase III road project, visit the Town’s website at fountainhillsaz.gov/Pavement-Projects.
In 2022, the town hired Roadway Asset Services to laser-test the entire road network to help determine which roads needed urgent repair. This report and review of the age of streets helped formulate the four-phase road repair and replacement plan.
