Long: Mayor Dickey gets things done

Posted

I agree with the recent letter from Mr. Hughson and want to add some specificity. To wit, infrastructure improvements in Fountain Hills in the six years of Mayor Dickey’s leadership have been remarkable.

I've looked back at what has happened in that short period of time and have seen some of the following improvements: $30m invested in street repairs; intersection control improvements; implementation of road safety corridors; sidewalk infill; Town Hall roundabout construction; crosswalk improvements; Panorama storm-water drain project; splash park, skate park, Four Peaks Park remodels; Desert Vista Park lights; Golden Eagle Park flood control project; Centennial Circle remodel; namesake Fountain LED lighting project; remodeled Community Center; Sanitary District/town partnership at Fountain Park: three well relocations, two restrooms and presidents’ overlook remodel; pump house wall remodel with artworks;electric vehicle charging station; groundbreaking of the International Dark Sky Discovery Center.

Add to that, we now have an emergency room, the HonorHealth Urgent Care Center and Park Place commercial is nearly full, Chamber business membership is growing and the town provided extended premises options and COVID grants to small businesses and non-profits to sustain them.

And during this time, the town has issued more than 200 new home/condo infill permits.

All this within budget abilities, authorized and approved by the Town Council.

Mr. Hughson is right about “keep progressing.” I’m voting to re-elect Mayor Ginny Dickey. Things get done with her.
