Civil discourse in question

Civil discourse has been described as “robust, honest, frank and constructive dialogue and deliberation that seeks to advance the public interest.”
The Town of Fountain Hills’ next public cares symposium scheduled Thursday, March 21, is on the topic of civility. It will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Fountain Hills Community Center.
A news release describing the forum states that “according to national polling, most Americans believe society is less civil than it was a decade ago.”
This is a national, even global concern, however, it may be said that civility begins at home and event organizers believe it is a discussion worth having at the local level leading to this special community event to share ideas on the topic.
Experts on the topic who will be featured speakers include Evan Lowe, a professor at ASU in the School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership, who has spoken frequently on this topic. Also, Patrick O’Grady, Editor-in-Chief for Independent Newspapers, will provide an overview of the Civility Pledge and how the civility discussion is happening across the country.
