Mitchell: Dickey has my enthusiastic vote

Posted

On moving to Fountain Hills a decade ago, I was surprised by the level of vitriol in community politics. I remain baffled.

The bitter narrative fostered by a segment of the community’s residents stands in inverse relationship to the actual challenges faced by our elected officials. While Mayor Ginny Dickey and I likely will vote differently on most (all?) candidates on the November ballot, those differences are irrelevant when it comes to local and largely nonpartisan matters.

She provides informed and level leadership in the face of attacks that would be comical if not so detrimental to our town. She is respectful and calm when a more animated reaction could be understood and expected. Most important, to me, is her knowledge of the community’s basic needs and her persistence in seeking what I view as common sense solutions. She has my enthusiastic vote.
