With early voting already underway and Election Day just a few weeks away, the Rio Verde Community Association has posted a reminder to residents regarding door-to-door political activity within the community.

According to RVCA Executive Director Kevin Hearty, the office has received a number of inquiries related to door-to-door political activity in Rio Verde. State statute [ARS 33-1808 (H)] prohibits community associations from banning door-to-door political activity, including solicitations of support or opposition regarding candidates or ballot issues.

However, this statute does allow community associations to place restrictions on when the activity can take place, specifically stating that activity from sunset to sunrise can be prohibited.

“We ask anyone involved in this activity to please be respectful of your neighbors and comply with this restriction,” Hearty said in an email posting.

In accordance with the statute, the RVCA is also asking each person engaged in the activity to prominently display an identification tag, and to prominently identify the candidate or ballot issue that is the subject of their support or opposition.
