Wolborsky: Liberal math doesn’t add up

Posted

Like every other town, Fountain Hills has its groups of very liberal residents. You see them in other towns waiving Palestinian flags, advancing the “Green New Deal” wanting to eliminate cars with internal combustion engines. The fact that these liberal policies have led our country to a point where it is difficult to pay rent and buy groceries (think Inflation Reduction Act), that there are two wars raging in the world that could necessitate U.S. involvement or worse, seems not to slow the liberal fervor of these groups.

Luckily, in Fountain Hills these groups represent a minority of the population.

Our own Town Council has two Liberal Ladies and one Liberal wannabe on it. Ginny Dickey, Peggy McMahon and Brenda Kalivianakis. And if we examine their voting histories, we see the predictable. Many of their votes ignore the majority of the Fountain Hills voters and play to their liberal base. Most recently we have seen them vote against appointing the only clear winner of the primary election, Gayle Earle, to fill a council vacancy. Note: Gayle Earle is not a liberal.

At the Oct. 2 council meeting, Mayor Dickey stated as justification that 10,000 people voted but Gayle only received 4,226 votes. True, but very misleading. A total of 10,133 persons voted BUT there were eight candidates. Also, all voters did not cast three votes. So, Gayle actually got 50-plus percent of all the votes cast for that position. Nobody else did. So liberal math fails again.
