Posted

Henry (Butch) Pevear Jr, 85, of Fountain Hills, AZ passed away on June 7th, 2024, at home with his children and his dog by his side.

Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years Phoebe (Werner) Pevear. Henry is survived by his sister Shirley Prescott of New Hampshire, his daughter Alison Pevear, his daughter Holly Blaney and son in-law Scott Blaney all of Fountain Hills, his daughter Paige Tomczak and son in-law Paul Tomczak of Pennsylvania, son Henry Pevear III of New Hampshire, his grandsons Colin, Justin, Jake and Hayden, and granddaughters Jillian, Jessica, Hailey and his German Shorthaired Pointer Molly.

Henry was born and raised in Swampscott Massachusetts, graduating from Swampscott High School and completed his degree at Thomson School of Agriculture at the University of New Hampshire. He then proudly served in the US Army, Company A, 79th Engineering Battalion stationed in Germany. After leaving the Army, Henry married his wife Phoebe in 1963 and moved to Danvers, Massachusetts where he raised his family. Henry was a plumber, and he spent his career working for the Salem Public School District. After retiring he moved to AZ where he split his time between Fountain Hills and his summer home in Show Low.

Henry was an avid sportsman, and you could always find him in a boat or on a river fishing for trout and salmon. He hunted every fall in Maine, but his most treasured adventure was hunting in Alaska. Henry especially enjoyed his time in Maine at his cabin in Wilson’s Mill and the family camp on Lake Thompson. He travelled regularly with Phoebe and his favorite destination was the Caribbean. He had many hobbies including woodworking, gardening, collecting music and sports memorabilia, and attending country music shows and country dancing.

Henry was a one of a kind. He was beloved by family and friends and left us with many funny stories. Henry brought laughter to everyone who knew him. He was also known for his thoughtful generosity to those he cared about, in addition to his favorite charities.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

Services held at Messinger Mortuary, 12065 N Saguaro Blvd, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268. Saturday June 15th, 2 pm.  Reception for family and friends immediately following.
