Paul Stephan Palys

Paul Stephan Palys, 81, passed away peacefully after a long illness on May 23, 2024. The youngest of seven children, he immigrated to the United States from Poland in 1963 at the age of 19 and settled in Buffalo New York, joining his mother and his brother Zigmunt. Paul studied English at night school, and proudly became a U. S. Citizen. He worked diligently to support his mother, two nieces from Poland whose mother died in childbirth, and his family from his eventual first marriage. He moved from Buffalo, New York to Monroe, Michigan to work at Ford’s Woodhaven Stamping Plant and later moved to Lincoln Park, Michigan to be near his two sons from his first marriage. In 1988, he married Rosemary Farkas of Lincoln Park. They moved to Trenton, Michigan and lived there until 1998. Upon Paul’s retirement after 30 years of employment at Ford Motor Company, Paul and Rosemary moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona, and lived there for 26 of there 36 years of marriage.
Paul took pride in his heritage and his faith. He was a Lector at the English and Polish Masses at his church in Wyandotte, Michigan and worked at the Polish Festival every summer. He was Lector and Usher at his church in Fountain Hills until his illness took over. Paul was always there to help those who put an effort into helping themselves, those who lived and worked in the right direction.
Paul loved the simple life, working on his home, gardening and garage saling. He always adopted rescue dogs with his surviving pal, a Pug mix named Jiminy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonina Palys (nee Kaminska) and Antoni Palys; his sons from his first marriage, Peter and John Palys; his sisters, Mary, Irene and Wladzia and brothers, John, Ted, and Zigmunt. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, a granddaughter, a great grandson and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the U.S. and Poland.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Bernard of Clairvaux, 10755 N. 124th St., Scottsdale, AZ 85259 on Tuesday, June 4th at 11:00 am with visitation at the church beginning at 10:15 a.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to VerdeCares, 18934 E. Avenida Del Ray #106, Rio Verde, AZ 85263.
